Birth Tour Mon. July 31st

The BIRTH Tour July 31st 5 - 7 p.m.

Presented by Thin Air Media and locally sponsored by Mother Tree Doula Services, the Zenana Spa and Wellness Center and LifeCircle Counseling

Location: The IFCC -- 340 North Interstate Avenue 503-823-4322 |
Admission: $10

Families are invited to participate in a nationwide birth tour event, sharing their stories and exploring the process of birth. The intention is to hold a safe space for compassionate listening to all birth stories that emerge out of small and large groups. We are raising the next generation and we are connected by that imperative thread.

As part of a six city tour, the event informs the upcoming 2007 release of BIRTH, a radio documentary sponsored by The Institute of Noetic Sciences, PRI, Mothering Magazine and Mother Love.

From this event, an ongoing community support initiative is being launched called the Portland Family Time Bank. Imagine after the birth of your baby if you received six weeks of meals from your neighbors! Would you feel supported? Inspired to also contribute? Time Banks are a tool for neighbors to get to know each other, caring for kids, pets and older parents, minor repairs and yard work, car-pooling to after-school activities; rides for elders to shopping and appointments and the safety, comfort and warmth of a neighborhood that looks after each other. For every hour you spend doing something for someone in your community, you earn one Time Dollar. Then you have a Time Dollar to spend on having someone do something for you. It's that simple. Yet it also has profound effects. Time Banks change neighborhoods and whole communities. Time Banking is a social change movement in 22 countries and six continents. Contact us at 503-577-8897 or jesse@mothertreebirth.com for more details or if you are inspired to contribute to the Portland Family Time Bank.
