We went to Pediatric Associates of the Northwest for my son's care, and the staff there obliged my request to split up the MMR vaccine, no questions asked.

WE love Pilar Beurke at NW Pediatrics. So far, she has been willing to do the vaccination track that we want for our baby boy. We didn't do any vaccinations his first year and only just started with Dtap since she recommended that one first at his age of 13 months. We are breaking up all the shots to suit our schedule. She is so kind and knowledgeable! I can't recommend her more.

I went to a seminar at the Natural Childbirth and Family Clinic on vaccinations, where the naturepath giving the lecture said that the clinic does offer the MMR and Dtap in single doses.

I'd be interested in uM's points of view on vaccinations in general. All or none? Some or one? Younger or older? What if you travel abroad? And so on. I know this is a loaded topic, and perhaps this isn't the right thread for it. But i looked around and couldn't find a discussion on the matter.

I think it is a pretty loaded topic, but all the discussions I've seen on uM so far have been respectful, so I'm sure it could be done.

I highly recommend the book "Vaccinations: A Thoughtful Parent's Guide: How to Make Safe, Sensible Decisions about the Risks, Benefits, and Alternatives" by Aviva Jill Romm. We ultimately decided to vaccinate selectively (after one year) and I found this book to be very comprehensive and easy to understand, no matter what you decide.

We've gotten some information in from a Naturopathic Physician: "I am a licensed naturopathic physician looking for parents concerned about giving their children the combination MMR vacccine. I have ordered 10 doses of each vaccine, split. I will have vaccine for 3 more children. Child must be healthy, at least 2 years or older and has not received the MMR. The schedule is 2 doses per vaccine, doses one month apart (total time lapse for complete administration 6 months.)

As a naturopath practicing homeopathy, I can also provide remedies for children who typically react to vaccines (pain, diarrhea, rash, fear, etc.)

Fee will be initial office visit/intake--($136 for cash patients or bill your insurance) and the vaccines at cost (about $150, insurance doesn't generally cover the split version of the MMR).

Has anyone heard of (in the NJ area) where I can get the MMR shot split into 3? I went to my Dr. and he said if I can find a pharmacy that will give it to me split he will administer it--my pharmacist looked at me like I was stupid--and really had no idea why I would do this. She said I could only get the measles (in a 10 count-enough for 10 shots), Rubella (also in a 10 count) and Mumps I could not get. Any info. would be appreciated.

We're in East in the NH/MA area and would LOVE any info on who out this way can split the shots up as well. Our local pharmacies say they cannot get the single shots and our doctor is clueless.

Thanks in advance for any help

Maybe you guys on the East coast could contact the Naturopathic school out here and see if they can recommend anything out there.

I was wondering where in new York I could find someone to split up the MMR shot. I have given my daughter her shots one at a time and on a slowed version. If anyone can help please. She is 3 1/2 now. Thanks..

My son is 14 months old, and I've been put under a bit of pressure to have him vaccinated with MMR. I understand that there are no scientific proof to show that autism is caused by the MMR vaccine, however, it was too much of a gamble for my husband and I.

We live in Canada and, to my surprise, are unable to find the three vaccines seperately. Through a friend of a friend etc. I was able to get the correct information and can now ask my doctor for the right prescriptions. A medical rep said that once I have the vaccines he'll try to get them for me.

If anyone is interested, I have all the information. You can email me at LLaGrange@gmail.com

Hi everybody,

I've created a new website with some more information about the split MMR vaccine, but I still need a lot of information.

Come have a look at www.parentsagainstmmr.com to see if you can help me!

Thank you,
Linda

We are also getting pressure from our son's school district because he has not had his 4 year old MMR. I know the doctors say there is no "scientific link" between the MMR and autism, but we saw the change in our son after his first MMR at 1 years old. He was diagnosed with PDD (NOS) when he was 2 and we have spent the past 3 years getting our son ABA, speech, and occupational therapy. The progress our son has made is miraculous. We are terrified to get his 2nd MMR shot and did find 1 physician out of hundreds (literally)that would separate the shot, but we will have to pay for 10 doses. The doctor was shocked that we were willing to do this, but he does not know what we have been through. I told the physician that we would donate the other 9 vaccines to other families that wish to separate the MMR. The doctor is located in San Antonio, Texas. Do not give up parents, it is possible.

Cathy, I hope this isn't a silly question, but do these vaccines have to reside at your doctor's practice in San Antonio? Any way they would consider shipping a round of them to northern California? I would be willing to send a pre-paid package and everything. I am having extreme difficulty finding the separate vaccines in my area. I do have a pediatrician who is generally supportive of alternative vaccination practices, and she would do the shots if we could find the vaccines. She just won't find them for us. :( Any info you have is greatly appreciated!

We, too, would pay for all 10 doses and would be happy to make a donation for someone else who might not be in the area to receive a round of these...I work at a large nonprofit group that funds autism research. While there is no "scientifically proven" causal association between vaccines and autism, there are certainly enough personal accounts from parents I know to make me concerned...and as far as I know, the association has not been thoroughly, scientifically DISproven thus far!

As a parent, I err on the side of "better to be safe than sorry." It's a shame that this completely rational attitude is viewed as "crazy" by the drug manufacturing companies, the CDC, the government, and everyone else, who fervently continue to support vaccination without significant research that backs up its safety. Right now we only know for sure that vaccines protect from harmful diseases...but at what cost? And how do you weigh one against the other?

Cathy - I have a similar request to the post made by Amy on October 19th above. I would likewise be willing to pay for shipping, etc. It even happens that I will be in driving distance of San Antonio over Thanksgiving so if I had to come in person with my daughter, I could do that for the first dose. I would also be willing to go in on multiple doses and help out others who could not afford it.

My daughter has a half brother (my husband's son from his first marriage) who exhibited his first signs of autism right after his first MMR shot. My husband is willing to take our daughter to any number of appointments to avoid doing the MMR altogether.

Many thanks in advance for any information.

Does anyone know of any doctor in the chicagoland area that will split the mmr shot? THANK YOU!

I live in Westchester County, NY. I have 2 boys, a 1year 3 month old & a 4 1/2 year old. I need to a doctor who can provide me with seperate MMR shots. Please help.

You can get these vaccines done seperately at the Natural Childbirth Center in SE, but please do your research on these vaccines, they are pretty intense stuff to put into such small little bodies. Dr. Ed Hoffman-Smith, ND, does a lecture on vaccinations once a month at the clinic. Worth your time.

I have a toddler and I ordered them separate from a pharmacy I found online called hopewell pharmacy- i requested the prescriptions from my doctor separately and he gave them to me- first relunctantly, then gave in. I ordered by faxing the prescriptions in and paid with credit card- they came frozen and I kept them in my refrigerator- when it was time, I brought them to my pediatrician who administered them with no problems. My insurance did not cover them. I paid for them out of pocket. Google hopewell pharmacy online- it's in new jersey- check it out at your own risk- do the research-consult your doc- not every doc is willing to do it. I am happy I did it-if I have another child, I will do it again.

While I applaud all of you for going to difficult lengths to do what you feel is best for your children, I don't really understand this fervor to divide the shots.

If you're that worried about the effects of these vaccines, why not delay them entirely until your child is 4 or 5 and better able weather the effects? The possibility of a child contracting either of the diseases is minimal. Check out the stats from the CDC:

Cathy
I was wondering if you could give me the name of your doctor or any doctor in san antonio that will be willing to seperate the MMR vaccinations? I currently live in san antonio and my son's vaccinations are coming up soon. I spoke to my doctor and she said she could not because their is not a demand for the single dose vaccination in her clinic. Thank you so much for your information.

I also live in San Antonio and have been looking for a doctor that's willing to separate the MMR vaccinations, but I'm not having any luck so far. Our current pediatrician stated they do not offer the single shots (surprise, surprise!). Any information on a doctor in the San Antonio area willing to offer the separate MMR shots would be so appreciated!

Before we had my daughter vaccinated, I did quite a bit of research and had my father (retired physician) do some research for me, as well.

Apparently, the onset of symptoms for autism coincides with the age children are given the MMR shot. Even when there is no shot, this is when most autistic children will develop symptoms. There is only one study (which all the medical participants except the author have since distanced themselves from and proclaimed the findings to be inaccurate) that draws a link; it was a study of 12 children. All other studies (with more children), find the occurrence of symptoms of autism the same in children regardless of the vaccine.

In addition, the offending preservative that was supposed to be the cause of autism, thimerosal, is no longer used, except in trace amounts in the flu shot (so the MMR doesn't even contain it anymore).

I completely understand wanting to split or delay the MMR. I considered it to the very day my daughter rec'd her MMR (my daughter goes to Dr Pilar Burke). I understand the fear. It's scary when you are making a decision that you think may affect your child's longterm welfare.

At the same time, I think it's important that the facts be present when making this decision.

k, I completely agree that people should be aware of the facts when making the decision to vaccinate.

And the fact is, that the MMR never contained thimerisol in the first place. MMR is a live virus vaccine. Thimerisol (a preservative) would kill it.

http://www.fda.gov/CBER/vaccine/thimerosal.htm.

And so, while studies debunking the thimerisol-autism link may be helpful for parents weighing the risks/benefits of other vaccines, they are irrelevant when discussing the MMR.

Some parents are concerned that the MMR may trigger the onset of autism in certain kids. Maybe these kids have a predisposition to autism, maybe they already have mild cases of it. Maybe there's no connection at all.

But as you say, most autistic children do develop symptoms around the time they are given the MMR. So whether there is a connection or not, like you, I can understand a parent wanting to delay, split up or forgo this vaccine.

Does anyone know of any physician in Vermont area who will offer the MMR in single component doses? My husband and I have split up all of our daughters other vaccines so that she only recieved one shot at a time every three to six weeks. I realize there is no scientific evidence of a link between MMR and autism but hearing all of the parents stories of symptoms arising after MMR is just too terrifying to chance, please help, my Doc thinks I am nuts, he is very pro vaccine and says he cannot get it separated but I don't believe he has even tried.

I live in Miami and I am looking for the separate MMR Vaccines. My pediatrician does not offer the vaccine separately. I have scimmed through the above commentary and the online pharmacy looks like a last resort solution. I was wondering, does anyone know of a child who was negatively effected by the vaccines even when separated. Before I go through the hassle of ordering from a seemingly sketchy online pharmacy or flying up to NJ 3 times and making appts for a NJ doc to administer my son the separated vaccines; I'd like to know if anyone here has a frightening anecdote about the shots being given in 3's.

For those of you who want to split up the MMR shot, you could ask your doc. to write a prescription. Take the prescription to a Walgreens and they should be able to order the vial(s) for you. Then take the vial(s) to your doc. to administer the shot. This is what I'm in the process of doing for my child (a 15 mo. old). I have the prescription and called Walgreens (I'm in Ohio). They told me it'd take a couple of days to get the vial(s) in. Hope this helps!

Thank you for all the wonderful info everyone! I know this question keeps getting asked, but does anyone know of a doctor in the Atlanta area that will split up the MMR into the three separate vaccines? My doctor at Piedmont Pediatrics is wonderful and has accomodated my requests to split and delay other vaccines. Thank you for info for your friends down South!

I live in s. california and I too am looking for a doctor who can split the three vaccines. If anyone knows anywhere or a doctor out here please share the info. Thanks.

I live in Northern California, in Santa Rosa. I am also looking for a doctor that will split the three vaccines. So if anyone knows of a doctor or clinic that would do this please let me know. I do want to vaccinate my 2 year old for Measles, Mumps and Rubella, but want to do it separately since all three of the components of the combo MMR contain the live virus. I think if it is combined that it is too much for a babies immune system to handle all at once.
Thanks.

Did Walgreens come through with the separate doses and how much did they charge? I'm expecting twins and want to get things figured out now.

I'm looking for the split MMR vaccine for my soon-to-be 15 month old daughter. I'm having difficulty finding an Atlanta pharmacy that can fill this request. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can order the seperate vaccines from Johnson Drug in Maine. They need a script for the vaccine you want, faxed to them. They will overnight the vaccine to your doctor. You will have to pay out of pocket and then submit the vaccine cost to your insurance company. I called them and what they have in stock seems to vary. You'll need to call them prior to your doctor's visit to see what they have in stock. Here is there phone number:
(781) 893 3870. I am going to the Ped. on Friday and plan to get a script for either the mumps OR measles, whichever the doctor thinks is most important for my son to have first. Also, a great book to read is: The Vaccine Book by Dr. Sears. It has the facts you need including why to separate the MMR. I will be taking the book to the doctor's office with me on Friday. Hope this helps!

Can anyone provide for me a pediatrician in the Kansas City, KS area that splits up the MMR shot? My current dr. at Pediatric Partners does not, and my 12-mo-old daughter's appt is coming up. Thank you so much in advance!

I just found two physicians in Southern California who will split up the MMR shot. (1) Dr. Juliana Pak at Pediatric Partners in Temecula, CA / 951-587-0992
(2) Dr. Ronald Becker in Murietta, CA / 951-600-2681

Any response on the name of the San Antonio pediatrician who will split up the shots? Thanks!!!

Hello, I live in Austin,Tx, I am looking for a doctor who is willing to Split the MMR Vaccine. If anyone knows of a doctor I would greatly appreciate it. My daughter is 12months.

Hello! I want to find a pediatrician who will split the MMR, and who is generally friendly with offering the alternative vaccine schedule in western Massachusetts. Does anybody know of a doctor to suggest? Thanks so much in advance! My healthy son is 1 year old. I want to keep him that way and not take risks! Bless you all on Mother's Day.

Hi All,
My daughter is now 21 months, and I've been stalling for some time now to give her the MMR shot. She suffers from severe allergies, and reacts with rashes to many things, and being in day care has been sick often. Our last round of vaccinations had her vomiting for 3 days within 4 hours of their administration. Thankfully she recovered fine, but it just infuriates me that in FL you're not given a choice when it comes to vaccinations. Understanding that they are important, but if I've learned anything from doctors over the years, you alone are responsible for your care. They don't have all the answers.

So getting off my soap box, if any of you have recommendations on clinics in the South Florida area that administer single dose shots of the MMR, I would really appreciate the info.!

Thank you in advance for your help!

Deborah, you might try the Mothering.com discussion boards. They have get a lot of traffic (much more than here) and people are always asking for/recommending this sort of thing.

Does anyone know of a dr that will split the 3 vaccines in the Greenbay WI area?

Does anyone know of a doctor in Orange County, L.A. county, or Riverside County that will split up the MMR vaccine?

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get the MMR vaccine separated in the Kansas City or Topeka area?

Thanks!

Looking for Dr. that will support my decision to skip/delay some vaccines and would love to find someone who can administer the MMR separately. I have decided to skip the MMR and have obtained an consience exemption from the state but I am concerned with skipping the Measels shot al together. My current Dr. looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for her to omit a vaccine at my child's 6 month visit. The nurse told me it was mandatory and that I did not have a choice. I told her she was wrong!!!! I need to find a new Dr. and would love to find one who can administer the MMR in separate shots.

Looking for Dr. in the San Antonio area who will administer the MMR separately and will not look at me like I am crazy when I ask that an alternative immunization schedule be followed. My current Dr. was not supportive and I was offended when the nurse told me I did not have a choice and that all the shots were MANDATORY. I told her she was wrong and demanded that some be skipped during the 6 month visit.

Dr. Sears' website http://www.askdrsears.com/thevaccinebook/Vaccine_Friendly_Doctors.asp is a great resource to find vaccine friendly doctors by state. Good luck!

why not all those wanting to buy seprate vial get together and order from MERCK directly? And then split up those vial to whosoever wants it? some arrangment can be done right?

I have a 9 month old son and I use a safe vaccine schedule for him. I see from previous threads that many parents want help finding a doctor that will separate the vaccines. While it is important that you have a doctor who is supportive of you wanting to separate the vaccines, it is not necessary that the doctor offer them in house. You can request that they order them from one of the pharmacies or wholesale distributors. One of the wholesale distributors that you can contact is American Medicine at 225-924-0247. Here are three pharmacies that also distribute the vaccines: Lee Silsby in Ohio, Hopewell Pharmacy in New Jersey, and Wellness Health in Alabama. If you contact these places directly, they will tell you what you need to have your doctor send them in order to order the separate MMR vaccines. Please note that Measles and Rubella are on back order until mid July 2008 and Mumps is on back order until Spring 09, so if you are wanting these vaccines in the next several months then you should put your name on the waitlist for them.

I live in Smyrna, TN and have called the Health Dept. and every pharmacy I can think of. They all talk to me like I'm crazy for asking for the doses separate. They all tell me that noone offers or even sells them separately. I'm a little aprehensive about ordering vials online so if anyone has any other suggestions I'm open to ideas.

I live in Maryland and would like to know if anyone knows of a doctor who administer the MMR vaccine separately. Thanks.

I am also looking for a Kansas City physician that will only administer the measles vaccine to my son. Please email me if you know of anyone. I don't even know where to start! Thanks in advance.

UPDATE to 2006 entry re SPLIT MMR VACCINE:
I have had many calls from parents all across the United States in response to the posting I made two years ago. I do not offer the vaccine I posted about two years ago (it was a one time deal) but I have talked to many about how to go about getting this, including on the east coast. Any physician can order the measles and rubella vaccine (made by Merck). Pediatricians in private practice have more say over what they will order. If that doesn't work, try the local children's hospital. One mother in Chicago was able to purchase it from the local children's hospital after agreeing to transport it on ice to her child's pediatrician who then administered the vaccine. You can also try the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians: www.naturopathic.org to find a naturopath in your area.
Mumps vaccine is not available right now and I haven't been able to discover why.
I am thrilled with all of the calls and emails I've been getting in response to a post I made over 2 years ago! Keep pushing for the split vaccine!

Hi there,

Like most of you, I have done LOADS of research about the MMR vaccines, and vaccines in general. Now I know so much that my husband and I refuse to have our son vaccinated at all. Some people have been so rude about out decision that I have a rather thick skin now.

Though I do NOT promote vaccines in any way, I do not want to judge parents who do decide to go ahead with them, however, if I were you I would do my best to get the separate shots, or to delay all the vaccines until about 4 years old. I know for sure that there are homeopathic alternatives to vaccines which ARE effective.

I have created a website with all the info I've gathered so far if you are interested - including info on where to get the three separate shots. It's being updated regularly, so please check back. I'm working on the info page about the homeopathic alternatives.

If you want to contact me personally you can do so at LLaGrange@gmail.com Would love to help in any way I can. PLEASE JUST TRUST YOUR GUT!!!

Here are some ways that patients have found they can get the shots separately:

1. Go to a vaccine clinic at a large university hospital.

2. Go to a travel clinic where people usually go to get unusual travel vaccines prior to international travel. Some of these carry the separate M, M, and R.

3. Ask your doctor to write you a prescription for each shot and try to get it filled through a pharmacy. You would bring the shot back to your doctor’s office (making sure you keep it a refrigerator temperature – 36 to 46 degrees F or 2 to 8 degrees Celsius) for the nurse to administer.

4. Ask for a prescription, but get it filled through an online medical supply company or online pharmacy. They can ship it directly to your doctor’s office (shipping isn’t cheap though). One such company that I know of is American Medicine, Inc. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. You can find them on Google.

5. If you can’t find the separate shots anywhere, ask your doctor to start a list of like-minded patients and just skip the full MMR for now. Chances are over the next year or two the list will grow to include 10 patients. Delaying your baby’s protection for a year wouldn’t be too risky since the diseases are very rare.

Cost – I know it costs my office about between 35 and 50 dollars for each vaccine, so you can expect to pay at least this much plus whatever markup your provider deems appropriate.

If you live in the Phila. area,
Penn Presbyterian Medical Center offers the MMR vaccinations in the individual vaccinations.
Their office is located:
51 N. 39th St.
Mutch Building
Phila, PA 19104

I see so many San Antonio folks on here! Do any of you have a dr-sears-friendly pediatrician? I've called so many places and no luck. Would love to find someone who supports selective vaccination, co-sleeping and the like in SA. Please reply if you know of one!

Jenni please contact me as I'm looking for the same and we could keep in touch if one of us finds a good doc! I am also in San Antonio. We also co sleep and want to find a good pediatrician who won't be pushing vax on us and so on. So far I have not found one but I won't stop looking!

Hi
I'm looking for the split MMR as well and I live in western Ma? My dr. gave me the prescription for mumps but now I can't find a pharmacy that has it. I was told it was backordered unti next month, another place told me it was discontinued and another said it wasn't available until next year? Does anyone know about ordering from Canada?

I live about 20 mins east of Salem, Oregon area and am trying to find a more vaccine friendly doctor. My daughter is on a slightly delayed and selective vaccine schedule. She is 6 months old and in light of the whooping cough going around in OR, I am moving up starting her on vaxes from a year to 6 months. All the doctors I have in my area are VERY pro-vaccinating by the CDC schedule and refuse to order any other vax brands than what they normally get. I'd like to avoid going to Portland if I can because of the long drive (a solid hour). Anyone have any info?

I live in Bradley County, Tennessee. My pediatrician is in Hamilton County, Tennessee and is willing to do the alternative vaccination schedule to a certain extent, but he will not treat my child if I refuse the MMR shot. He did say that if I could find the split MMR vaccines than he would give them separately. Does anyone know where I could get the separate vaccines in this area?

In response to Kristi's post about Penn Presby in Philadelphia, would my son have to become a patient at the clinic? The pediatrician that we go to now, will not give the shots separately.
I am a nurse and I believe that vaccines offer protection against serious illnesses but I feel strongly that we should be given a choice. I'd rather be safe than sorry!

I contacted Penn Presbyterian Medical center in Philadephia today and I was told that they do NOT offer the MMR vaccine in the individual shots

I wanted to say thanks for all the info on the seperation of the MMR vaccine, I have been searching desperatly for info and got alot of info, thanks to everyone for all your help.

Is this still an issue?

Jeez people - there is NO RISK. The fact that people see the symptoms of resessive autism at the time of MMR is because the timeline fits. It is a coincidence. You are looking for a causality that simply does not exist.

Wonder how many of you worry over this but fail to feed your children 7 fruit and veg a day? That has a bigger impact on future health than this rubbish.

I live in Troy, MI. I would like to give my son the MMR in three separate shots but I'm having difficulty finding them. My son's Dr. told me yesterday that I can be put on a waiting list but she does not know when they will be able to get them in. Meanwhile, I was lectured on how the measles virus is spreading in the US and I'm jeopardizing my soon to be newborns health if my 2 year old does not get the vaccination. She then cut me off when I tried to voice my concerns about giving my son 3 live vaccines at one time. She said I should be doing my research on where the measles virus is spreading and what it could do to my children especially my newborn if contracted. So...if anyone knows of how I might be able to get them separate in MI, I would appreciate the info.

S.J.H.m - I am looking for a ped in KY, OH, TN, IN, IL who will split the shot for me. Could you give me the name of your pediatrician?
entyce68@aol.com

My daughter just received her first measles vaccine today. In 30 days, she will receive her mumps vaccine and then will receive the rubella 30 days later. I am not sure about the 10 shot series that I have been reading about but this dosage is one shot for each of the three. We did not want our daughter to recieve the MMR shot just incase there is a link between the two. Our Dr. did not want try to swap our minds but did say there was no link. We called our inssutance and they did cover the shots if split up. I guess my advice would be to just be persistant and keep asking.

does anyone know a doc in kansas willing to split the mmr shot? any help is appreciated!!

Does anyone know of a way to get the separated MMR vaccines in the Baltimore, MD area? My pediatrician says they don't order them because they have to be ordered in packs of 10, and they don't have 10 patients who want it.

As of last month Merck is stopping the 3 separate ones - seehttp://www.aafp.org/online/en/home/publications/news/news-now/clinical-care-research/20081224merckcombo.html.

I don't know what I'm going to do now - I'm in the Detroit area.

Carmela from westchester have you had any luck locating a doctor in the area who will admister the MMR shot separately? I too live in Westchester and have been looking high and low for a doctor who will accomodate.

Anyone looking for the single dose MMR vaccine, here is what you can do. Contact Merck. Merck is NO longer making the single dose of these for whatever reason? Usually these drug companies are all about money, I would have to believe that selling them separately would make them more money? Anyway, a pharmacy gave me their number to call to try and get them to continue making it. I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter who I have gotten two of the 3 vaccines for. But I have a 4 month old son, so I will need more! Merck's number is 1-800-672-6372 Chose option 2, then 3. Then you will get an operator ask them if they have any available they will check and if/when they say they do not have them and that the decision has not yet been made to continue making them, you can just tell them that you are concerned and would like them to forward a message of your concern to their vaccine division. And they will type a message for you and forward it. All she asked was my first name and my zip code. The lady that I got was Very helpful! Hopefully it works!?! It can't hurt!

Merck has discontinued production of individual vaccines for MMR as of Jan. 1, 2009. They are only concentrating on the production of the combination MMR vaccine.

I have contacted almost all of the pharmacies and hospitals mention on this blog plus CHOP in Philly and no one has the Mumpsvax (Mumps) or Meruvax (Rubella) vaccines. They only have Attenuvax (Measles) vaccine.

If you concerned, at all about this my suggestion is to contact Merck directly. Let them know you are looking to get the MMR vaccine as separate vials. Maybe this will let them know that there is still a need for the vaccines as separate vials in their formulary.

HI we live in Canada and are looking for a pediatrician in Canad or the US that will divide up the MMR shots. Does anyone know of Drs that still do?

Hello. Like everyone here I am a frustrated mother that can't find away to administer the mmr separately. My pediatrician began to separate the shots for me. My son received the measles and when I came back for the mumps I was told by my pediatrician that the manufacturer would no longer separate the shots and that I would have to administer the mmr shot as a whole. Can my son be administered the mmr shot now? Especially after having had a dose of the measles already? I am so upset about this. HOw can these shots be so hard to get a hold of? I have googled that Hopewell Pharmacy someone posted about and it doesn't exist. Please help. I am in Miami Florida.

Thank you kindly.

I am looking to have my son vaccinated separately. However, after contacting Merck they said they were no longer producing the MMR separately since they had removed the thermasol. Does anybody know of a pharmacutical company that produces separated MMR or where I can get it? I live in Rhode Island. Bonnita Darcy

I live in s. california and I too am looking for a doctor who can split the three vaccines.

My daughter is desperate to find the mmr in 3 separate shots. We live in SE PA. Please help.

I highly recommend the book "Vaccinations: A Thoughtful Parent's Guide: How to Make Safe, Sensible Decisions about the Risks, Benefits, and Alternatives" by Aviva Jill Romm. We ultimately decided to vaccinate selectively (after one year) and I found this book to be very comprehensive and easy to understand, no matter what you decide....

I totally agree with this comment, thanks for sharing, have a nice day!!

Hi. Does anyone know of a doctor/facility which seperates MMR in Colorado?

my pedi told us 1 year ago we could wait to give our daughter the MMR until she was 3. at that time they said we could divide the vacine up. now that she is ready, they are telling me they cant order it separated anymore. is this true? we are in Atlanta subs.

i had the measles and the mumps as a child, im still here! do i have permanent antibodies, and did i pass them to my daughter as i was breastfeeding her?

I am in NJ and am looking to split the 3 shots up. Is there a compounder that can do this? I really really don't want to give my son all 3 at once.

We know that MMR shot doesn't necessarily cause autism, but most parents who've experienced the loss of their child's skills and onset of autism symptoms following vaccination are convinced that there's at least a triggering factor to the vaccinations. My son regressed after a bad reaction to his 15 mos. shots. He is autistic after developing absolutely normally beforehand. Vaccines circumvent the normal method the body has of acquiring a virus (through the nose). This then creates a process which then disrupts the body's normal method of fighting off a virus and thereby creating its own antibodies against the virus. If your child has auto-immune issues, circumventing this process could be enough to trigger autism (in addition to sensitivities to toxins and other metals in the vaccine...yes, I know the mercury is gone, but the aluminum is still there). My middle son has a definite diagnosed case of autism. My oldest son is Aspergers. Ironically, we chose not to vaccinate our daughter and she is absolutely typical and by age 2 had surpassed her older brothers in verbal and social skills. I am willing to take my chances of her contracting measles, mumps or rubella, all diseases that can be survived if you're healthy and have decent healthcare resources, than take a chance that I vaccinate her and she slips into the haze of autism like her brothers did.

Hello, I live in Kansas City and like most of you am looking for a doctor that is willing to separate vaccinations. Does anyone know clinics/hospitals locally that I can get the individual vaccines and have my doctor administer? What is the cost estimate for the vaccines since I'd be paying out of pocket? Thanks so much!

Looking for a doctor in Chicago, who will administer the individual doses. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Merck is no longer making the seperate vaccinations- they may start up again in 2011, but they may not. www.thevaccinebook.com

I am in Southern California looking for the Mumps shot. Can anyone help me? Please advise

My son has autism and has never gotten the MMR. So there goes that theory!

Does any other country manufacture the seperate vaccines, measles, mumps ect.. and if my child only got one dose of the measles how effective is it? Do all countries use MERCK?

He is using homo's to destroy America because he hates America. He doesn't hide this fact. Look on his web sites he even admits it, how does it feel to be used?

Hello,
My husband I have a two year old daughter which we have yet given her the MMR vaccine. We have since birth seperated her vaccines and limited them to only 1 or 2 at a time. She is 2 and will be 3 this year. If anyone can PLEASE help me find a Dr who would seperate the MMR in 3 doses in TN I would greatly appreciate it. I never thought in a million years it would be this hard to find a Pediatrician who would do this for me it blows me away. Thank You again, Amanda K.

I have heard over and over that the MMR, Chicken pox and TDAP will not cause autism. The GOV DOES ADMIT That it can :

Severe Problems (Very Rare)
Serious allergic reaction (less than 1 out of a million doses) Several other severe problems have been reported after DTaP vaccine. These include:
Long-term seizures, coma, or lowered consciousness
Permanent brain damage.
If these problems occur, it is usually within 7-12 days after the shot. They occur less often after the second dose.
Moderate Problems

Seizure (jerking or staring) caused by fever (about 1 out of 3,000 doses)
Temporary pain and stiffness in the joints, mostly in teenage or adult women (up to 1 out of 4)
Temporary low platelet count, which can cause a bleeding disorder (about 1 out of 30,000 doses)
Severe Problems (Very Rare)

Serious allergic reaction (less than 1 out of a million doses)
Several other severe problems have been reported after a child gets MMR vaccine, including:
Deafness
Long-term seizures, coma, or lowered consciousness
Permanent brain damage
These are so rare that it is hard to tell whether they are caused by the vaccine.

Enough of a reason to NOT want to vaccinate!!!

I am told if I do not vaccinate that there is not a doctor anywhere near me that will see my son! I live in Alabama, there is no Doc in Alabama on the vaccine friendly web site!!! My doc had me crying he was soooo mean to me. I had a Week to get shots before he kicked us out of the clinic!!! I do not want to give anymore until he is older. I don't know what to do. He is a sickly kid. He has asthma and bad reflux. He takes daily meds for these, so he needs a doc!
