My advice nurse recently told me:
"A temperature is technically 100.8 F and higher. If it lasts for only 3 to 4 days, it is probably a viral infection / upper respiratory. If it lasts beyond 4 days, it is probably a bacterial infection."

Also, my childcare provider told me:
"State law requires a child with a temperature of 101 or greater to be picked up within an hour, immediately if at all possible. The baby must be quarantined during the time they are still in childcare."
