Help Reach and Strengthen Underserved Families in Lents!

March 21, 2013

Hey there, urban mamas!

Little Adventurers Day Home is looking to reopen its doors so that its services may be available to families in the Lents community and in the southeast. Our first focus are the underserved families in Lents (low-income/no-income, immigrant, people of color), and ensuring these families have the same access to quality child care and parental and family support as moderate to high income families do. Our cause is a great one but we need much support to take it on and begin serving families.

Please click the link below to learn more!

http://www.startsomegood.com/venture/little_adventurers_day_home/campaigns/show/reach_and_strengthen_underserved_families

I hope you will catch the vision! Our needs are mostly financial at present, but we also need volunteers in the very near future to help us with the work of creating a safe, eco-friendly space for the children in our care. This includes hauling trash, rototilling, gardening, and laying concrete. Please contact me for more information. We hope to reopen our doors at the beginning of the school year. For a list of services or to learn the history of LADH, you may visit our website at littleadventpdx.org.

Thanks for reading!

Wanted: a Spanish-Influenced Community School in SE PDX

March 18, 2013

Hi.  My name is Becky, and I have a son who will be Kindergarten age in Fall 2013.  I am looking to join or start a community of learners for parents and their young children, for SE Portland area families. Are you interested in being an active part of your child's/children's education?  Would you like to be one of your child's/children's teachers in a community school setting?  Are you interested in your son or daughter being immersed in Spanish?  If so, please contact me at beckysjobsearch@hotmail.com.  I am hoping that we can keep the cost of the program limited to rental space and materials (no teaching feees, as each family will share in the teaching and child care responsibilities).  We need to form our group and search for a location (I've been trying to find a suitable place, it's really hard to do!!!).  I look forward to hearing from you soon.  Becky
