Hello Portland Families!
My name is Alaina and I am 27 year old Portland native, who's hoping to find a full time nanny position. I am available M-F and hoping to work at least 35 hours a week, but not exceeding 40. I have a summer time position that will be ending September 11th, and will be available to start full time by September 14th. I know it’s a little in the future, but I just want to give myself, and future family enough time to make sure it’s the right fit. My most current family I am working has two older children, ages 8 and 11. It’s the first time I have worked with “older” children in a nanny setting and its been awesome! We stay very active, and entertained with all that’s offered around Portland. Before this position I was at a Pre-school/Daycare called West Hills Learning Center, in Multnomah Village. I started out as the Assistant Teacher in the Pre-K classroom, when I decided to start looking for a nanny job I moved to part time as a floater, which had me working in all of the classrooms 8 months- 5 years old. West Hills was a great place to work, and I learned so much there, with all of the different ages, to teaching styles, and large number of children in each class, I really soaked up as much knowledge as I could to help me in my future child care positions. With that said, I have realized I thrive more in a smaller group setting. I like the intimacy and attention you are able to give each child. I like growing close with the families, and having the time to be able to give updates to the parents about how the day went, and what new fun things we did during the day.
In the past I have worked for the Beaverton School District as a Substitute Teacher's Assistant, I worked in mostly special ed classrooms, and children with behavioral issues, ranging for K-12, I have worked in after school art programs, and I have been a Nanny to multiple families, which I have grown to have great relationships with. Kids age ranging from 3 months-8 years old. Of course I have babysat throughout every job I have had starting at a very early age. With all my past experience I have always gone back to wanting to be a Nanny, I believe it truly is my passion to care for children, and there is no greater feeling then leaving a days work actually feeling like you have made a difference in someone’s life.
A little about me, and my teaching style; like I said before I have grown up in the Portland metro area my whole life, I love Oregon and all if has to offer. Like most Oregonians, I love the lifestyle we are able to have by living here, beautiful day hikes, weekend trips to the Oregon Coast and the Mountain, trying a new awesome restaurant each weekend, eating locally and as healthy as possible. It’s very important for me to be active, and healthy, and that is definitely incorporated in when I am watching children. I like to have the kids help me cook, get them involved and show them what its like to eat from the garden, daily walks, and exploring all nature has to offer. Rain or shine, I need to go outside everyday! I very much believe a child's imagination is the most important thing to exercise and discover. Letting the child know they are loved and cared for on a daily basis, making sure they are comfortable and knowing you are there for them with all of their questions and concerns, helping them when they need help, but also letting them try new things on their own, and learning together is the most important thing I can provide as a Nanny and caregiver.
As a Nanny, I would make sure each day we would go outside, hopefully incorporate arts and crafts on a daily basis (because I love art projects as much as the kids do!) read books, prepare healthy snacks, listen and dance to music, explore new parks, and honestly just try to learn and play as much as we can, and have a great time doing it!
As I search for the next family to work with, I am hoping to find something long-term, at least a year+ commitment would be ideal. With that said, I really enjoy working with younger children and being able to watch them grow. Babies especially! The connection you form when their babies into toddlers is so important. I want to treat my next job as much as a career as possible, 1 week paid vacation/holiday pay, taxed, and a guaranteed amount of hours each pay period. I have a weekly sheet I fill out for the families, which includes activities done throughout the day, potty/nap schedule, miles driven, expenses used, and hours for the day. It really helps the parents and I keep track in an organized way and it’s seemed to work out really well. Pay is negotiable of course depending on the age and number of children.
I have a 2002 Subaru Outback, which is a very safe and reliable car. I have had my license since I was 16, with an amazing driving record. I recently renewed my First Aid/CPR training in January, and am enrolled in the Criminal Background Check. I am comfortable with pets, and don't mind walking the dog. I am comfortable with meal prep, light house keeping, and running errands. I don't smoke.
Even though I myself am not a mother yet, I can imagine trying to find the right Nanny for your family to be a very hard process. I don't blame the family for wanting to maybe have a lengthy hiring process, or wanting to do a trial run to see if you are a right fit before hiring, and to me that makes so much sense. You can't be too sure when you know this person is going to be watching your children. So with that said, I am available for contact through e-mail or phone. If you're interested I can send my resume, which gives in greater detail my childcare experience, we can chat on the phone before meeting to see if we would be a good fit for each other!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, I am a very caring, reliable, patient, and open minded person, I look at being a Nanny as a career, and not just a job to have until I find something better. I am very excited to find the next family to work with. Thanks again, and I hope to hear from you!

We are looking for 1-2 other families to start a nanny-share in mid- August for 4 days a week, typically from 8am-5pm. The day off can be flexible. We live in SW Portland, by Multnomah Village, and are looking for a family either in the SW area OR by my work, in inner NE - NE 21st and NE Hoyt. We are flexible!
We are a bilingual German-American family and finding another family who speaks German or wants to learn German would be a HUGE PLUS.
Our daughter will be 11 months old in mid August and we are hoping for one or two families with children around the same age. We'd like to look for a nanny together. We are seeking a creative, loving, and experienced nanny who is willing to provide childcare for two families in NE Portland beginning in mid-August. Our boys will be 7 months and 1 year old in September.
Both mothers are employees of Portland Public Schools. I would be looking for care consistently 5 days a week, Monday-Friday from 7:30-4:30 (following the PPS school calendar). The other family would be needing care a minimum of two days a week (occasionally more). We would hope to find a third family to share the time on the alternate three days per week.
Primary responsibilities include:
If you are interested, please send a cover letter, resume and three references to Amanda at email@example.com. We would like to review resumes on July 6.
I'm looking to share a nanny with another family starting in August. I live near Wilshire Park, between Alberta and Fremont and I have a 9 month old little girl. I'd love to find another family in my area with a child who is in the same age ballpark as mine.
I'm a part-time teacher in Portland Public Schools, so I work MWF one week and TTh the next in a two-week rotation. I'd be interested in someone who wants to share the nanny on opposite days, someone who wants to share the nanny on the same days, someone who just wants a nanny 1-3 days a week - I'm flexible about how this configuration works! If you're interested in full-time, let's talk about what that might look like as well.
I'd love the other family to be part of the nanny selection process and plan to start that soon, so if this is of interest to you, email me (Ren) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Looking forward to meeting you!

Located in the Overlook neighborhood of North Portland, we are a licensed, in-home preschool.
Our daily routine involves a multitude of authentic, open ended materials, engaging art, nature, and music activities, and healthy organic snacks. We believe that less is more in the preschool environment, and the materials and objects within the school are tailored to expand upon the interests of each and every child. We have a large, fenced in backyard, and frequently explore the neighborhoods and parks surrounding the school. Indoor and outdoor play are equally important, and we go outside each day rain or shine.
At Little Imprints, we believe in instilling a love of learning, play, and exploration to the children in our care. Our school is designed with the intent of teaching children to become confident and effective communicators. We achieve this aim by having a maximum of 6 children in our care each day, while providing a safe, comfortable environment for the children to practice all the important life skills they will need to prosper.

We're looking for a family to share our full time nanny with us starting in July. Our daughter will be 18 months old. Our nanny has worked with us and another family for the past year and the other family has decided it's time to enroll their child in preschool. Our nanny has worked with several other families and comes with a lot of experience with infants and toddlers. She has a lot of fun with the kids, is patient, and our daughter loves her. We have a double stroller so that she can take the kids to play in the park, go see music at Poa, and explore the neighborhood. We are open to hosting at our house, going to yours, or splitting between the two. She charges $2,500/month (split between the two families) and works 8:30-5:30. We live off of Vancouver a couple blocks south of Alberta. The ideal family would live close to us with a child of similar age. Please email Anastasia at firstname.lastname@example.org
Are you looking for high-quality, affordable, personalized childcare in SE Portland?
Would your child thrive in a small, family-like environment rather than a crowded center?
Do you like the idea of a nanny share, but with a bit more structure and dependability (and not in your house)?
I have been providing child care for a small group of babies and toddlers in my home since November 2012, shortly after the birth of my oldest son. Before this, I worked closely with kids of all ages for over 12 years as an environmental educator, elementary school teacher and as a nanny. I love spending time with children!
Our group is very much like a little family; with just a few children here at one time, I am able to provide lots of individualized attention. My oldest son is now in preschool and I will be caring for my youngest son and two other boys, their ages will range from 10-14 months come September. We are looking for one more friend to join our group! Ideally, I would love to find a family who is looking for 25-40 hours per week of care for their child who is of similar age to my current group. This opening is available September 8 (an earlier start date might be negotiable), and I provide care Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm. My full-time rate is $7.50 per hour.
My home is located near SE Woodstock and 60th. Inside, we enjoy lots of free play and exploration - there are plenty of books and toys, but no TV! We like to spend lots of time outside as well - we explore nearby parks, investigate the vegetable garden, make messes on the deck, and play in the fully fenced yard.
As a child care provider (and a parent) I value maintaining a flexible routine to our days - I find that young children benefit from knowing the general flow of the day and what is coming next. I believe that infants and toddlers thrive with consistent and adequate rest, so age-appropriate naps are prioritized. I even have separate sleeping areas for each child! I am open to supporting a variety of parenting styles and values and I have lots of experience with cloth diapering, bottle feeding, baby wearing, special diets, baby-led weaning, baby sign language, and potty learning. I am trained in first aid and CPR and have a food handler's license. While I don't adhere to a single parenting or educational methodology, I am familiar with and borrow ideas from the RIE, Attachment Parenting, Waldorf and Montessori philosophies.
If it sounds like my care might be a good fit for your family, please contact me with questions or for more information!

We are searching for a part time nanny for the summer and possibly beyond. We have a 4 month old baby that we could use a nanny to help care for her during the week days. Ideally 4-5 hours a day in the middle of the day for 4-5 days a week, for a total weekly schedule that we decide on together for between 16-25 hours a week . We need someone with experience with babies, who can offer a happy, playful, loving routine. One of us works from home, so we will be nearby but need the time to focus on our work. ideally you would be watching her during her awake time with one nap in the middle. We will go on a walk with her in the evening, so we would prefer if you could mostly stay in the house or yard with her until she gets a little older.
Our baby is a sweetie but will need your full attention. Non smoker a must, no TV or screens around the baby. We have 2 dogs in the house. We will do a background check, call your references and issue the W2s for taxes.
We would like to pay $12-14 an hour depending on your experience and what chores you'd be willing to do when the baby is sleeping. Please contact us if you are interested in this position, but the pay does not meet your requirements. We are trying to understand what the normal pay range is.
Looking for help ASAP.

Laurelhurst Family Seeking Nanny and Partner Family for Nanny Share
Hi! My husband and I are looking for a nanny for our 3 month old infant son starting June 15. I work from home but we need a full-time nanny for at least 35-40 hours a week. We are are also interested in finding another family in the area to do a nanny share with. Since we are looking to do a share, any nanny applicant needs to be comfortable and experienced with multiple infants. We also have a chocolate labrador retriever so comfort with pets is needed. Any interested nannies or families, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org I look forward to hearing from you!
Our family is looking for a new child to join our nanny share in Southeast Portland. (Sunnyside)
Our nanny began working with us when our daughter was three months and she is now 13 months. The family who joined us in a nanny share is planning a summer trip and will no longer be with us so we are looking for a new family to engage in a share with through mid July.
There's a potential for the new family to extend care with the nanny beyond mid July however we will be ending our contract with her then, because we are planning a trip of our own beginning July 17. Our nanny is absolutely amazing and has tons of experience working with multiple children. We currently have care at our house in Sunnyside but are willing to consider other options as we know setting up a nanny shares requires flexibility ;-)
If any or all of this sounds interesting please email/text or call.
