Infant Toddler Opening Certified Child Care NE Portland (Hollywood District)

July 15, 2014

Licensed and Certified Childcare home has one opening in September for an infant to 18 month toddler.

One consistent caregiver and our small intimate groups, means extra special attention for your child. (the most important period of social emotional development for your baby is the first three years of life.)

We specialize in infant and toddler development and offer developmentally appropriate as well as age appropriate activities for your child’s optimal learning.  Our program is for infant and toddlers only to age 3.

Daily learning occurs in the context of  a secure relationship with the care provider and within the child’s abilities and interests.  We focus on Early Literacy experiences that are enhanced through continuous exposure of books music, and musical instruments.

Older toddlers have lots of opportunities to experience pre-science and math activities through the course of their play and sensory exploration.  These occur naturally through cooking, gardening, outdoor exploration, exploration of art materials, dramatic play props and many specific games and puzzles.  Math, science, literacy, and social skills are learned through hands on play and discoveries with measuring, counting, sorting, classifying, observing nature, and cause and effect.

We offer natural and organic foods. Breakfast, lunch, and two snacks daily that are nutritionally balanced and exceeds USDA food compliance standards.

My qualifications include a degree in Early Childhood Development, as well as over 25 years experience caring for infants and toddlers

My program is respectful, and attentive to the needs, wants, and desires of children. Self esteem, a personal sense of value, respect, and tolerance, are just a few of the life skills I hope to instill in your child.

If a small and intimate setting filled with love and nurturing sounds like what you are looking for, Please contact me to schedule an interview.

Looking to share our great nanny in SE

We are two families who have been sharing a great nanny for the past year and we would like to add a third family to our nanny share.
The Nanny Share:  Each of our families has a two year old son that spends a few days per week with the nanny.  One of the boys will be starting preschool a few days each week this Fall.  Our nanny share has space for another child on Tues, Wed, and Thurs from 7:30am - 5:30pm. This nanny share may involve the children going with the nanny to pickup an older brother from kindergarten at 2:15. The location will be at one of our two houses, depending on the day. We are near SE 50th & Stark, and SE 36th & Division.
Our Nanny:  has raised her own family and hosts a wealth of patience and creativity. She takes the kids to OMSI, the zoo, the library, Mr. Ben, on walks, and other fun outings. They read, do art, make costumes, cook and dance. She is happy to work on specific “training” skills – sleep, potty, speech, etc. She provides a written log about each day’s activities.  The kids love her and everyone is happy and calm at the end of the day.
For inquiries, please email
We will arrange phone interviews with potential families after July 8, with in-person meetings thereafter to make sure we have a good fit for everyone.

Experienced Nanny seeking Family

June 28, 2014

Hi, My name is Natalie and I am playful and upbeat.  I love developing caring relationships with babies and children while helping them to learn and grow! I have extensive experience working with infants to middle schoolers.

 My background includes:

 - Master's Degree in Art Therapy with children

- Former Preschool teacher

- Former Children's Museum Educator

- Lots of Nanny experience

- Education in Child Development

- CPR and First Aid certified

I’m looking for a family that needs consistent help between 28-40 hours a week.

For the last 4 years I’ve been the nanny of a wonderful little boy entering kindergarten in the fall.  I’m planning on continuing to watch him for a few hours next year (Monday and Tuesday afternoons 3-5:30 & Wednesday and Thursday early mornings before school).  They live in Southeast Portland.  His mom would be happy to nanny-share those times if you needed help then as well.

Thank you so much for your consideration!  I look forward to hearing from you.

FT Nanny share – North Portland - Looking for a family to share our wonderful nanny

WE ARE:  Parents of a 6 month old boy (born Dec 2013), looking for another family with a child of similar age to share our truly wonderful nanny – beginning September 2014 (or earlier – we have some flexibility).  We live in the Kenton neighborhood of North Portland, and would like to find another family located relatively nearby who is willing to host the nanny share.  We need care M-F, from approximately 8am-5:30pm.  A family looking for long-term care is preferred.

OUR NANNY:  We’ve dubbed her the “baby whisperer” – we’re truly lucky to have her in our son’s life.  She is perceptive to both babies’ and parents’ needs, familiar with various parenting styles, and most importantly – is incredibly warm and giving.   She has a combined 6 yrs experience as a nanny-teacher, Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, CPR and First Aid certification, driver’s license and car.  She grew up in the Portland area, and knows the city and surrounding area very well.  She’s dedicated to getting the babies outside on a daily basis (weather permitting of course), and is more than willing to fit field trips to OMSI, the Zoo, nearby parks, etc. into the weekly schedule.

ADDED BONUS: If you happen to be adventurous parents like us who enjoy weekend outings which aren’t conducive to bringing your little one (e.g. kayaking, mountaineering, climbing, biking, backpacking, etc.), we’re very open to watching your child while you go play, if you will do the same for us!!

CONTACT:  Please contact me at if you’re interested.  I can then share additional details on costs, potential start dates/times, answer any questions you may have about our family or our nanny, and provide references.

Great Family & Nanny Seeking another Infant for Nanny-Share - SE or NE

June 11, 2014

Our family, along with our wonderful nanny is seeking another infant to complete our nanny-share beginning in August or early September. Our sweet son was born in mid-May and we'd love another child of very similar age for development and socialization along with sharing the costs of a nanny. Our truly incredible nanny helped raise our 2.5 year old along with another child since they were 4 months old but it's now time for our son to move on to daycare and our nanny has agreed to stay on to take care of our infant. We feel so lucky to have her as she's done wonders with our older son.

We are a professional family looking for another family needing full time care (M-F, 8-5pm or 9-6pm - we are pretty flexible). We are in the SE Mt. Tabor neighborhood right next to the park and ideally would like another family nearby, if possible. We have a spacious home and yard and hope to split time here and at the other family's home. My husband and I both work full-time from home so we are always nearby and have some flexibility as needed.

We are experienced partnering witih other families and managing a nanny-share. If this sounds like a good fit for you and your child, please email me (Ziggy) directly at We look forward to hearing from you!

Childcare Opening in SE Portland

May 30, 2014

My family is sad to leave our childcare provider of nearly a year, but we are pleased to share our positive experience with others!

Carolyn has been the ideal person to watch my daughter. She runs a small in home daycare in SE Portland/Woodstock area. She has just a couple of children at a time, a backyard with swingset and activities, and a basement full of toys for the rainy days. She takes the children on occasional outtings to places like the zoo or park and treats them as if they were her own.

Think of all of the benefits of a nanny - flexbibity and one-on-one care , but it's even better because the messes made during the day stay at her home not mine.

Shes looking to fill a spot 30/hrs a week and has flexible days/hours. Shes open to considering more part-time care as well.

I'm happy to give you a personal referral if you call me... Katie 503-438-0450

Or go ahead and contact Carolyn directly at

Openings in SE daycare for 2-3 year olds (Summer only)

Spots available for summer only (June-August) in Montessori inspired, home-based daycare.  Close knit group of sweet toddlers.  Daily art projects, story time, outside play, free play, structured play, and silliness.  Lunches and snacks provided, mostly organic and homemade.  Also regular time exploring music, nature, movement, and conversation.

I am a 39yo stay-at-home mom with a degree in Social Work, specializing in child welfare.  I approach children as being fully their own people deserving of respect and sincere listening, while understanding that they need lots of reassurance, love, and support as they navigate the often bewildering and frustrating experiences of growing up.  Have passed extensive background checks.  Will have adorable niece (high school student) working as my assistant all summer.  Children are crazy about her.

$70/day, available Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm

Hi Parents,

Is your child too young for preschool, but ready for playschool?  Are you interested in the immersive community-focused childcare experience that a Co-op offers to both parents and kids?

Eastside Family Cooperative has multiple openings for children ages 18 months to 2.5 years. We are specifically looking for children born in 2012, who would start with Co-op this Spring/Summer/Fall and stay on through Summer 2015 and beyond.

Playful, fun, energetic, patient, easy-going, flexible, and creative preschool teacher with lots of Spanish vocabulary ready to care for your kiddo(s)…..

My name is Sarah. I am a preschool teacher with 4 years experience with 1-3 year olds and 2 years experience with 4 & 5 year olds. I also hold a MA in Teaching and am licensed to teach prek-8th grade. I am taking a break from my professional career to have a family and, lucky for you, I am looking to share my knowledge and skills with you and your family.

I have a two year old daughter and we are excited to find a 6 mo-4 year old to play, read, sing, jump, run, dance, make food, do experiments, dig in the dirt, paint, draw, manipulate play dough, sand and/or water and then clean it all up with, either at your house, ours or both. We’d love to be able to walk to the park, go to story time at the library, go to the Children’s Museum (I have membership with a guest pass!), or go dance to Mr. Ben. I have a strong literacy development background as well as a passion for teaching little ones how to negotiate their needs on their own (language development). I also love seeing children become independent masters of their environment which is fostered by Montessori pedagogy, a huge interest of mine and something I have studied a lot of theory on. We are looking for a family in North, Northeast or Northwest who needs care about 15-30 hours a week.

If this sounds like something that meets your needs please contact me at and I look forward to hearing from you.
