Seeking after school care Thu-Fri 1:00-6:00

August 19, 2015

Family

Greetings,

We are seeking a caring, creative, responsible caregiver to pick up our girls, 5 and 3, from kindergarten and preschool and spend time with them until we get home.  Starting the first week in September, we are looking for someone Thu and Fri from 1:00 to 6:00. Position could add M-W in the near future as our wonderful M-W babysitter transitions to another field. Pickups would be from Opal preschool (located within the Children's Museum) at 1:00 and Chief Jo Elementary at 2:45  near our home in Arbor Lodge. There might also be after-school activities to take them to. My husband and I work full-time in the architecture field. The girls love creative play, art projects and learning about nature, and we keep them away from electronics during the week.  Teaching-related background a plus.  If you are interested, let me know a little about yourself and your experience, along with your hourly rate.

We are also looking for a full-day (8:00 am - 6:00 pm) sitter for Aug 27,28 and 31: would be a great way to get to know girls if interested in position.

Many thanks,

Seeking nanny for infant SE Portland

Hello my husband and I are seeking a nanny for our son, Henry. he will be 4 months old in October, which is when I will be returning to work. Once we have all the hours & days set it will be set for the next year. We live in the SE Woodstock neighborhood very close to a park and library. Our house was built in 1926, has lots of character and a big back yard. We have been here for 11 years and are well established with neighbors and have friends close by for emergencies. We also have our first "fur baby" his name is Dutch and he's a silly corgi (3years old) he's very easy going and great with Henry. We are not the family that tossed the dog aside when our son was born, he still does it all with us. Seeking nanny for afternoon care in NE PDX M-F (2015/2016 school year)

Hi,

My husband and I are seeking M-F afternoon care for our 6.5 year old son Eben and our 2.5 year old daughter Sabine. We live in the Sabin neighborhood of NE PDX, where Eben is going into 1st grade, and Sabine is beginning at a preschool nearby.

We are seeking a nanny from 2:45-5:45pm M-F during the 2015/2016 school year. Care will involve picking up Eben from school at 2:50pm each day and Sabine at 5pm, with play time in between and following transport, of course!

Due to the transportation required, the nanny will need to have a reliable car and a clean driving record.

A bit about our family--Noah works for an SF based software company, and I own an organic frozen yogurt shop in town. Eben is a very verbal, loving boy who loves to read and is particularly interested in space and legos. Sabine is everything you'd expect of a 2.5 year old--super curious, super sweet, and super independent! They have fun together.

We've been fortunate enough to employ a few wonderful nannies since Eben's birth and have stayed close with each. They will be happy to speak with a prospective candidate about their experience with our family.

If you feel this could be a great match, please contact me at elizabethnathan@yahoo.com or at 503-706-0381.

Thank you!

Elizabeth

Seeking early evening weekday nanny in NE

We would like help at home with our 14-month-old daughter in the early weekday evenings, roughly 5:30 to 6:30 or 7:00pm. Usually, we'll both be home as well, but one of us has a daily 6-6:30 online assignment, which is why we need an extra set of hands.

What we need: Reliability, since we need this person every day M-F. Fun, because you're working with a toddler. Flexibility, because we'd love you to help out on other occasions if you're able. Ideally, we'd like you to be able to babysit on occasion and/or help out during the day when daycare is closed - such as the last week of August - and perhaps stay a bit later once a month or so when one of us travels for work. Oh, you should also be pet-friendly, as we have two dogs and two cats. (The cats are always in the laundry room but the dogs are usually upstairs with us.) We're open to a student, grandparent, or experienced nanny.

What you'll do: The position will help with general toddler wrangling and feeding of dinner; kitchen clean-up, mainly of toddler bottles/snack containers that get washed daily, wiping counters, sweeping/mopping; and helping prep toddler lunch for daycare the following day. The number one priority is the toddler, but since both of us will normally be around, you may spend a little more time on KP while one of us deals with daughter some nights.

About us: We're new to Portland and live in Beaumont-Wilshire. Both of us work from home, one as an engineer and the other as a communications consultant. We like to bike and drink beer, though we have little time for either these days. We're pretty easygoing people who moved here to spend more time outdoors and with each other as a family. Our daughter is active and happy, loves to be outside, but can also be a handful at mealtime and bedtime. Read: she is a toddler. :)

Please email us at household@lozano-buhl.com with a little bit about yourself along with resume and references if available, and your hourly rate.

Nanny/Babysitter wanted for 2015/16 school year and beyond

We are looking for an after-school sitter/nanny starting in September in NE Portland (Beaumont neighborhood). We have an almost 8-year old boy (2nd grade) and a 6-year old girl (1st grade) at Alameda. We are flexible on days, but ideally want someone at least three days per week from 3-6-ish. You must have your own safe transportation, and a clean driving record. You would primarily pick kids up from school, shuttle to activities, and assist with homework.

In our perfect world, we would find a college student who would then want to transition to full time in the summer months (but not a requirement). Please email me at jillgbonnin@gmail.com if you are interested.

Thanks!

Experienced Nanny Available

My name is Kit and I am a 31 year old queer nanny, artist, and student with 13 years of childcare experience. I have cared for children ages 0-13 and specialize in infant and toddler care, though I am very comfortable with all age groups and enjoy spending time with older kiddos too! I am looking for a temporary but stable position that will end (or reduce hours) when my Fall term starts at PSU towards the last week of September. I am currently available until 4:30pm on Tuesdays and anytime on Thursday and Friday until the end of August and then my availability on Fridays will change to mornings until 2pm when my current childcare position switches back to the school year schedule. Tues and Thurs will remain the same until my term starts. I would prefer to work 6-8 hours per day and I am able to offer a sliding scale of $14-17/hour for one child, with my scale increasing from there for two or more. I have a safe and reliable vehicle and drive children several times a week on outings, to camps, and other activities like athletic practices, etc. Preference given to families in NE/NoPo or close-in SE.

I am especially excited to work with other GLBTQ families and/or folks who are open to the wonderful diversity of people that exists here in Portland.

A bit more about me: I am originally from the Midwest and have nannied in Minneapolis and Baltimore before moving to Portland in 2011. I was a live-in nanny for two years in my early 20s and even went on tour with a punk band as a “road nanny” a few years back. I’ve worked in both a preschool and in-home setting and have knowledge of early childhood development as well as many different child-rearing philosophies. I use this knowledge and experience to create a safe, happy, fun, and nurturing environment for growing children to learn and explore. I am also available to help with sleep training and other challenges that may come up!

I am available for occasional babysitting as well—please feel free to get in touch if that is of interest!

I have an extensive resume and several excellent references that I would be happy to forward if it seems like it could be a good fit. email: leahkitkogan @ gmail dot com

PT SPANISH TODDLER PLAYGROUP/ PRESCHOOL LIGHT (INNER SE/NE)

August 02, 2015

We are looking for a few more toddlers to join our Spanish home-based toddler playgroup. The wonderful teacher is a native Spanish speaker who has been running the same ‘escuela’ for the last seven years.

The playgroup provides the kids significant Spanish exposure with a play-based focus. As some of the older kids are moving on to formal preschools and we do not want to lose the fantastic teacher and this great resource, we are on the lookout for new families to join us (otherwise the group will not be continuing after August).

The ‘escuela’ meets from 9:30 to 12:30 Wednesday and Friday mornings. There will be at least four, but no more than five, kids aged between 1.5 and 3 years old. The teacher speaks to the children almost exclusively in Spanish. Their day consists of outdoor play, arts and crafts, music and dancing, and parent packed snack and lunch times.  The weekly cost per child is $40. We are still trying to determine which family’s home the group would be located beginning in September but the existing two families live in Hollywood and Mt Tabor/Hawthorne.

Please email Sarah for more information at Sarah.Figliozzi@gmail.com.  We look forward to meeting interested families.

Thursday Nanny Needed in SE Tabor

Hello Lovely Portland Nannies,

My partner and I are looking for a loving nanny/ sitter for our 2.5-year-old for Thursday evenings starting in September, from 6pm - 9:30pm. We both sing in a choir that has rehearsals on this evening, and need a nanny to give our daughter dinner, play for a bit, and put her to bed around 8pm. Occasionally, we may stay later to get drinks with the group, in which case, we would be home by 11:30pm.

During December and March, there will be extra rehearsals in preparation for Christmas and Easter concerts. We would let you know the schedule far ahead of time, giving you ample time to see if you are available to cover these events.

Our little one is a wonderful child - very mellow, great sense of humor, and loves to paint, draw, kick her soccer ball, and take care of her babies. She is very close to being potty trained and usually tells us when she has to go.

We are looking for someone who loves children and would enjoy a regular gig with a sweetheart of a kiddo.

We will be paying $8 per hour. If interested, please email me at chelseaterrisrose@hotmail.com

Au Pair Agency Recommendations (Beaverton/NW Portland)

August 01, 2015

Hi,

My husband and I are considering hiring an Au Pair, given the costs of childcare in the area, our support for international/intercultural exchange, already bilingual household, and our need for flexible childcare. I've done the standard research on all of the agencies and feel a bit overwhelmed.

It seems like - when you get down to it - most programs cost about the same thing, whereas having a good local area representative can make a big difference, both for the Au Pair and the host family.

Has anyone had any really great/really terrible personal experiences with either a local area rep for an Au Pair agency or an au pair agency itself that they'd be willing to share? I'd love to hear some individual perspectives. If you don't feel comfortable replying publicly, feel free to email me at vintagecharmproperty@gmail.com.

Thank you!

- lindsay

PT Nanny Share in N/NE

July 30, 2015

Greetings!  We are looking for another family to share our amazing nanny with us on M (9:30-6:30), T (10:30-7:30), and F (9:30-6:30) starting mid-September.  Ideally we would like to find a family close by; we’re in the Overlook neighborhood in NE, who has a child around the same age as ours.

Our family: We have a spirited one-year-old girl who loves interacting with other children, people, and animals, mainly our 2 sweet, very tolerant pugs.  We eat local/organic, use natural cleaning products, are cloth diaper friendly and are looking for a family with a similar lifestyle.  We encourage outdoor play and going to see music as much as possible.

Our nanny:  Kelly has been with us for close to one year now and is absolutely a gem.  She is bilingual, speaking mostly in Spanish to our little one, has a BA in Liberal Arts, has many years of infant experience and  with slightly older children, and is a fun teacher for us all.  She is a great communicator and our daughter just loves her.

If you feel that we would be a good fit for you we would love to chat. Ideally your schedule would be slightly flexible as Kelly is going back to school and may need the hours to shift around a bit on the 3 days depending on class availability.  Email us at ne.pdx.nannyshare@gmail.com or call Andrea at 714-883-5792 for more info.
